A 26-year-old man in Florida has been arrested for his alleged involvement in two early November robberies. The reported crimes occurred at a GameStop location on Business Circle and a Circle K location on U.S. 41 East in East Naples. Investigators say that a man, believed to be homeless, walked into the GameStop location and ordered employees at gunpoint to hand over cash. He then restrained the employees with zip ties before leaving the scene.

In the Circle K incident, the same man is alleged to have entered the location donning the ‘Scream” movie mask, a dark hoodie, gloves, and dark pants. Again, the man demanded money from the employee at gunpoint and tied them up before fleeing the scene. Police are also investigating two more armed robberies that occurred on Nov. 8. Officials say more criminal charges could be filed once the investigation is concluded.

The homeless man has been charged with five counts of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony and two felony counts of armed robbery with a firearm. The accused may benefit from contacting a criminal defense lawyer before cooperating with the police investigation. Legal counsel may begin constructing a defense strategy based on challenging the merits of the investigation used to identify the accused.

People who have been charged with a felony offense typically benefit from obtaining legal representation. Lawyers may be able to protect defendants’ rights to privacy and a fair trial while investigating different strategies to help exonerate the accused. A criminal defense attorney typically focuses on dismantling the prosecution’s case by using evidence to create reasonable doubt or by exposing a critical procedural error that may have been committed by police or the prosecution’s office.
